Sighs, Cries and Lies
Sigh, Cries and Lies is a physical podcast performance that unveils and celebrates the idyllic and inconvenient aspects of love and letting go. Three outrageous characters embrace their vulnerability and foolishness, inviting audiences to surrender to their remedies, melodies and weak knees.
The theme of love and letting go was a clear starting point for us. The subject matter is frequently banished to the most commercial corner of the artistic field, but we wished to place it front and centre in our research, giving space for our idyllic and insecure instincts.
Contextualising Sighs, Cries and Lies is a plethora of cultural artefacts - not trendy philosophical writing or fashionable activism, instead we draw inspiration from love ballads and rom coms, celebrating our bodies, our souls and the pleasure (as well as the challenge) to be found in love and letting go.
Our aim is to prove that love and loss is not a ‘silly’ theme, but a huge part of what it means to be human. We invite everyone to be inspired by desire, by how music and movement captures emotion and passion, infatuation and loss. We inspire future adventures and the heart warming memory of past triumphs or disasters.
